Drink Healthy Hot Cocoa to Warm Up and Stay Healthy Too

A study by Dr Chang Yong Lee and his colleagues at Cornell University in New York showed that drinking a cup of hot cocoa could be the perfect way to warm up and offer a dose of antioxidants. The study is published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society of Agricultural and Food Chemistry of the peers and the world’s largest scientific society.

Numerous studies over the years have shown that green tea, wine and chocolate, especially dark chocolate, rich in antioxidants and may protect against various diseases.

Research in China is that those who fall ill to tea in half the risk of cancer than those who drank no tea, but other studies show even in France, that a daily glass of red wine can the men 50% chance of a further attack take cut.


This new study shows drinking hot chocolate, an efficient delivery of antioxidants in the body than tea or wine.

Red wine, tea and chocolate, is rich in polyphenols that have antioxidant effects in the body. Antioxidants protect the body, harmful free radicals and protect the cardiovascular disease and certain cancers.

Research by Dr Chang Yong Lee conducted to measure the level of antioxidants, for a glass of water, standard-size bags of green tea, one cup of water, a standard-size bag of black tea, a glass of California Merlot red and hot water with two tablespoons of pure cocoa powder, the packet immediately in full size hot chocolate.

Team analysis of antioxidants in each drink and noticed that the cocoa was double the amount of antioxidants a glass of red wine, three times more antioxidants than green tea and five times more than black tea.

Although the content of antioxidants poet cocoa cake, pastries, liqueurs and other sources of large amounts of sugar, the team found that it is better, the hot chocolate that is saturated fat, considerably less than most other sources to choose. Avoid sugar and dairy products, milk, or propose, soy and artificial sweeteners instead of sugar .

They concluded that hot cocoa is better than cold, since the hot drink stimulates the release of more antioxidants.

Experts say that other good ways to get antioxidants include eating a wide variety of vegetables, such as tomatoes, fruits, such as oranges, and herbs, such as green tea.
